This ain’t a selection of British Mod faves but my pick of highly danceable tunes from (mostly) the US, for sure to file under the Soul-tag. I’ve never understood what’s the difference between Blue Eyed Soul, Northern Soul and Deep Soul, for me it’s simply the sounds I’d love to hear at a party. Over the top-productions with hilarious singing, heavy on the brass, inviting you to Move and do the Jerk, the Shing-a-ling, the Boogaloo, and le Monkiss. I’ve collected all these tracks randomly since years now not so much focusing on the rareness but just on that cool Mod approach.
